Abstract

The essay rereads a lateral, exordial but at the same time seminal book written by Graciliano Ramos providing a new perspective of analysis thorugh a combination of a postcolonial studies apporach (connected in particular with the colonial frames of the narration) and reflections on ethics of representation. Exploring the critical tradition on the novel, it is proposed an apporximation of Caetés to Eça de Queiros' novel, A ilustre casa de Ramires for the similar technique of the double-narrative.
