This section focuses on the environmental dimension of implementing rooftop agriculture (RA) regarding energy efficiency, water footprint, use of residual CO 2 from buildings and global environmental preservation. RA contributes to improving the energy performance of cities, buildings and food production systems. The selection of water-efficient techniques and the promotion of rainwater harvesting and greywater recovery systems is a critical issue for minimizing the water footprint of RA. Finally, RA can positively contribute to face global-scale environmental problems such as climate change.
