The project aimed to answer without endorsing a normative vision of a good democracy, rather starting from an empirical analysis, how democracies have reached to the 2007-08 economic crisis. Furthermore, the methodology uses the qualitative analysis as a way to deepen and integrate the quantitative analysis and, thereby, it innovates the current scholarship on this topic. The project has created a dataset which allows the teams involved into it to permanently work in partnership with the international scientific community. The countries analysed from a qualitative point of view have been France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, and United Kingdom.
