Edizioni o archivi digitali? Knowledge sites e apporti disciplinari

Digital editions or digital archives? Which is the most suitable word in order to describe web environments designed for humanistic/literary objects? This is not a simple task to face, or a trivial question to answer. The complexity of digital objects’ life cycle (production, preservation, manipulation, dissemination, fruition) is added to the semantic ambiguity of the words edition and archive, in particular when used in a digital context and in a perspective that embraced both philology and archival science. The concept of knowledge site as a scholarly environment is a choice: just a formal modeling and a real multidisciplinary (or even trans/cross disciplinary) approach are able to determinate a complete cognitive experience.
