GIVING is The concept Giving is a network of outstanding scholars and experts whose aim is the production of research, and studies on philanthropy as an engine of social innovation, addressing issue of social equity and social justice social justice and support in social change by using the tools of social investment Giving is the agora for the creation of an epistemic community whose aim is: • to strengthen philanthropic studies as a fully legitimised field of inquiry • to stress out the role of philanthropy as social investment through research, case studies, opinions and interviews; • to present and disseminate the essential tools for a critical and aware assessment of philanthropic matters; • to fruitfully draw up theories and practices through debate at international scale. To accomplish such objectives, it is crucial the co-operation of institutional players both in the public and in the private sector: entrepreneurs, politicians, foundations and non-profit organisations’ managers, academicians and researchers. The journal will be published twice a year The publishing will cover an amount of 1000 copies Partial downloads on line allowed The Players BUP, Bononia University Press will manage the production and the editing of the issue, will publish the journal and support all the activities related with marketing of the journal, advertising, diffusion and communication about the project and its initiatives, outcomes, networking process The MISP - International Masters Programme in Philanthropy and Social Entrepreneurship at the University of Bologna and Indiana University- whose Director Professor Giuliana Gemelli will be the Director of the Journal and the Coordinator of the advisors’ network The Review will be supported by a network of institutional actors: the role played by Foundations will give the publishing project a solid framework to develop its “blue print” in the most effective and challenging perspective. The contents Giving is an open project. After the first two issues, already planned there will be an intensive phase of networking, aiming to define trough meetings and workshops a challenging agenda. A tentative list of thematic issues to be further discussed has been designed as follows First two issues: The social responsibility of wealth From cure to care. The challenge of Hospices as a holistic and cross-disciplinary approach to the person
