Consumption rituals can be de ned as holidays, special occasions, and other events where there is intensive (o en excessive) consumption of goods, services, and experiences. On these occasions individuals engage in formal, serious, and intense consumption actions and other behaviours. Consumption rituals are distinct from other, more mundane types of consumption- laden activities in that they provide opportunities for both temporary and permanent individual and social transformations.
