The present contribution aims to investigate the linguistic attitudes of speakers of Ladin in Val di Fassa (province of Trento). Ladin is a vital minority language spoken in five valleys in Northern Italy (Val Gardena, Val di Fassa, and Val Badia in Trentino-South Tyrol; Livinallongo and Ampezzo in Veneto). In Val di Fassa, it is spoken by more than the 80% of the population, and it is taught in school since kindergarten. Interviews with 34 speakers of Ladin are analysed in order to find out their attitudes towards their minority language, its transmission to new generations, and its teaching in school.
