The chapter provides a brief historical overview that outlines the main features of Italian agricultural policy within the European polity; secondly, it analyzes the changes that came about in the nineties, both within a national and supranational policy context. The focus of the chapter is on the reconstruction of two case studies (milk quotas in Agenda 2000, and Sugar Cmo's reform in 2005), both indicative of the ways in which Italian agricultural policy is processed in the European arena.
