Although the aim of the volume is to reintegrate the lost liberal dimentions of the history of internationalism into the understanding of the twentieth century, this essay accounts for the fate of socialist internationalism in an era that saw the liberal, legal and institution focused version of internationalism come the international fore. In fact in the political and public arena the term "internationalism", here analyzed, long implied the idea and the nature od socialism, reflecting Marx and Engels call to the working classes of the world to unite.
