New organic-inorganic hybrids were synthesised by sol-gel process. The organic phase precursor was P(D,L)LA, a well known bioerodible and biocompatible polyester from renewable resources. The polymer was synthesized with different chain length and further functionalized to promote its reaction with the inorganic precursor during sol-gel process. The obtained hybrids are transparent to the visible light due to the nanometric dimension of inorganic domains. Moreover, the convenient choice of a inorganic phase may lead to hybrids showing radiopacity and barrier effect to ultraviolet radiation.

Abstract
New organic-inorganic hybrids were synthesised by sol-gel process. The organic phase precursor was P(D,L)LA, a well known bioerodible and biocompatible polyester from renewable resources. The polymer was synthesized with different chain length and further functionalized to promote its reaction with the inorganic precursor during sol-gel process. The obtained hybrids are transparent to the visible light due to the nanometric dimension of inorganic domains. Moreover, the convenient choice of a inorganic phase may lead to hybrids showing radiopacity and barrier effect to ultraviolet radiation.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
