A tentative typology of the hapax legomena found in funerary verse-inscriptions is provided: special attention is paid to their structure and meaning, stylistic effects and function, provenance and dating of the inscriptions. Studying the hapax legomena provides some extremely concrete clues to the language of epigrams and can contribute to a more complete understanding of the varied world of anonymous poetry carved on stone.

Abstract
A tentative typology of the hapax legomena found in funerary verse-inscriptions is provided: special attention is paid to their structure and meaning, stylistic effects and function, provenance and dating of the inscriptions. Studying the hapax legomena provides some extremely concrete clues to the language of epigrams and can contribute to a more complete understanding of the varied world of anonymous poetry carved on stone.File in questo prodotto:
