The Chapter “Students Decision Making Strategies during Transitions” provides an insight into how educational trajectories of so-called disadvantaged young people evolve differently. The authors theorise the concept of educational trajectories in term of the interplay of life course and biography, the role of transitions and the meaning of decision-making in this respect. This perspective is operationalised into three dimensions: ruptures, destinations and choice. The analysis develops the heuristic concept of “doing transitions” highlighting that the relationship between education and the life course is to be viewed as a recurrent negotiation processes among all actors involved in the process.

Abstract
The Chapter “Students Decision Making Strategies during Transitions” provides an insight into how educational trajectories of so-called disadvantaged young people evolve differently. The authors theorise the concept of educational trajectories in term of the interplay of life course and biography, the role of transitions and the meaning of decision-making in this respect. This perspective is operationalised into three dimensions: ruptures, destinations and choice. The analysis develops the heuristic concept of “doing transitions” highlighting that the relationship between education and the life course is to be viewed as a recurrent negotiation processes among all actors involved in the process.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
