An optimized forward and retrieval software has been developed for the retrieval of geophysical parameters from middle-infrared limb-emission atmospheric measurements. Currently, the developed sofware is being used by the European Space Agency (ESA) for the near real-time inversion of atmospheric measurements acquired by the MIPAS (Michelson Interferometer for Passive Atmospheric Sounding) instrument, installed onboard of the European ENVironmental SATellite (ENVISAT).
