Built in 1230, Hauz Shamsi is an example of water tank located in Merhauli that joins the weft and warp of the urban fabric where ancient links between architecture of heritage and landscape can be seen still today renewing a special relationship with water and the life. Over the centuries the city of Delhi has included part of them in its process of expansion supporting the creation of many communities by incorporating them as water resources into its urban fabric. Mehrauli is probably the oldest inhabited area of the city. The archaeological park is an area spread over 200 acre in Mehrauli, adjacent to Qutb Minar (UNESCO World Heritage site); the Master Plan of Delhi of 2021 now refers to it as the Mehrauli Archaeological Park. Examining the relationship between the kund and urban form the project hypothesizes the renewing and the regeneration of the area.
