At the beginning of the XXI century, intergenerational relations remain a key aspect of the future development and sustainability of the European social model. In fact, intergenerational relations, both at the macro and micro levels, adapt to and shape changes in population demographics, economic cycle, family cultures and values, and social policies. The paper offers a detailed exploration of the pattern and micro/macro determinants of intergenerational support in European countries.
