Interventi di riassetto idraulico nella Val d’Adige tra progettualità e attuazione (XVIII e XIX secolo)

Land reclamation in Adige Valley represents a significant sample of a territorial processes along several centuries and it is an important sign of the relationship between human communities and river environment. Since the second half of 18th century local and central institutions looked for practical and large-scale solutions in order to permanently solve flood problems and to exploit those territories which were more or less occupied by water. Between 18th and 19th century is situated the elaboration of several projects and after that begun the construction phase which lasted for many decades till almost the end of the century. Our geo-historical research is situated into the broader context of the interdisciplinary re- search project Etsch 2000. This project which brings together water engineers, geologists, archaeologists and geographers to reconstruct river Adige evolution in the last two millennia.
