Abstract
Thanks to the action of the Young Men’s Christian Association (Ymca) and, most of all, to the one of people like George J. Fisher, the volleyball became clearly a recreational discipline for the people in the American army, who were employed in the First World War. So, together with the Uncle Sam’s soldiers, the sport which would have seen Italians conquer the global scene in the Nineties, came to Italy. This paper will try to understand how our country came in contact with the new sport and which psychological and social basis it found.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
