Giovan Battista Aleotti was a polyhedral man of science of the XVI century, who worked in the field of architecture, engineering, scenography, but also a scientist who studied hydraulics and mechanics. He contributed to dissemination of the 'Pneumatica' of Heron of Alexandria, translating it into vulgar and enriching it with new additional notes and 'theorems' and, by his treatise the 'Hydrologia' to the dissemination of topographic and chorographic surveying with the use of 'archimetro'
