The baths of Bakchias were known from a papyrus (BGU I 181) dating to the reign of Nero in 57 A.D. During the archaeological missions of 2007-2008, we were able to identify the actual structural ramains of the baths (BSO 313). The baths were mainly built from fired bricks, but it is worth noting that there were also some structures built from dried bricks. The baths of Bakchias were built during the reign of Augustus and a second phase of building has been found, which has been dated to the reign of Hadrian. During this time, the baths were profundly changed. Subsequently, the baths were used and, finally, abandoned during the Late Roman Period and the first Islamic Period.
