Abstract

The opportunities offered by an EMOS are challenging, but might be not completely understood by them, also since degrees in statistics are not very popular among students. Moreover, the success of an EMOS project strongly depends on its capability of new enrolments rather than moving students of statistics from an orientation to another. The difficulty of recruiting students interested in statistical topics is a worldwide well known problem. A winning way for engaging new units is offering them scholarships, at best for the whole length of their studies, attracting them also from developing countries. The very beginning of an EMOS program has perhaps to focus more on the courses programs, leaving the search for hiring new and motivated students to a successive moment. This moment, however, has not to be delayed with respect to the definition of a good study program. The expectations of students and stakeholders have to be jointly considered to this aim and good suggestions come via their opinions. The international perspective developed by an EMOS program represents the main focus when choosing and advanced University educational project. Looking for consistent funding is however a very important point. Erasmus plus projects are a very promising source, that however relies on delivering joint degrees. These degrees might be proposed by the institutions that will be selected for the EMOS experimentation.
