Structural equation modeling (SEM) is an advanced multivariate statistical technique that allows to empirically test complex theoretical models. In the first part of this chapter we introduce what is SEM, the advantage of using SEM, and the different issues that are involved to this technique e.g., sample size, fit indices, and approaches. In the second part of this chapter we present an application of this statistical technique, through LISREL, using data from the mental health field.
