The chapter presents and discusses the experience of an alternative peace-building project realized by two women groups (The Jerusalem Link) in Israel and Palestine between 2005 and 2009. Through a careful ethno semiotic analysis of the specific practices of personal encounters between small groups of Palestinian and Israeli women, several general and theoretical issues are addressed: the question of identify, and how individual identity is shaped by social and national belonging; the forms and constraints of dominant discourses on both sides; the issue of gender and conflict.
