Abstract
In this chapter the rise and success of the Five Star Movement in 2013 Italian general elections is considered in a long-term perspective. The previous experiences of populist challenges to the Italian party system are analysed, from the Uomo Qualunque in 1946 to the recent success of parties such as the lega Nord and Forza Italia, where numerous populist features are manifest. In this sense the FSM appears to be the latest in a long series of parties that build their fortunes on anti-party sentiments diffused in the Italian public opinion.File in questo prodotto:
