The project is aimed to investigate the application of International Law standards in the phase of reception of immigrant children and, for those who apply, during the examination of their asylum request. To this end, an essential part is dedicated to the use of the principle of the best interests of the child (Art. 3 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child) by human rights regional mechanism of protection, with a privileged focus on Europe and Australia. The research investigates also new perspectives to prevent human rights law violations and to help all different involved actors (public authorities, NGOs, civil society associations) to monitor the correct implementation of human rights law standards. Through an in-depth analysis of the concept of vulnerability, the research programme may also broaden its scope to include other specific groups, sharing common grounds - such as gender, sexual orientation, disability, ethnic origin - in addition to their immigration background, in need of protection.

Abstract
The project is aimed to investigate the application of International Law standards in the phase of reception of immigrant children and, for those who apply, during the examination of their asylum request. To this end, an essential part is dedicated to the use of the principle of the best interests of the child (Art. 3 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child) by human rights regional mechanism of protection, with a privileged focus on Europe and Australia. The research investigates also new perspectives to prevent human rights law violations and to help all different involved actors (public authorities, NGOs, civil society associations) to monitor the correct implementation of human rights law standards. Through an in-depth analysis of the concept of vulnerability, the research programme may also broaden its scope to include other specific groups, sharing common grounds - such as gender, sexual orientation, disability, ethnic origin - in addition to their immigration background, in need of protection.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
