The focus of this book is on chief executives who have already acquired their office, though, I also try to understand and explain the process through which they acquire office and whether and how they can be removed. Second, I explore the amount of power chief executives enjoy in choosing and dismissing their ministers. Third, I deal with the policy-making powers of chief executives, that is, their ability to initiate and to obtain the implementation of their legislation. Finally, I analyze the relationship between chief executives and Parliament, especially with regard to the power of dissolution.
