The book is the result of an intense theoretical and experimental activity on matrix converters carried out at the Department of Electrical Engineering of the University of Bologna. The matrix converter is a direct ac/ac power converter. It has several advantages over the traditional power converters, such as compactness, bidirectional power flow, and good quality of input and output currents.
