This article is a discussion of space and places in E. M. Forster’s novel Howards End. This analysis begins by considering select linguistic aspects of the description of the actual places of the novel - Howards End and the city of London - and evolve into a discussion of the consistent use of a metaphoric articulation of space that appears in evidence in the description of the Schlegel neighbourhood.
