The present project proposes to develop a new method to measure suspended sediment concentrations and their grain size distribution with a dual frequency acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP). This is of high importance since sediments have a strongly negative impact on any hydropower plant. With the new measurement method it will be possible to extensively assess incoming amount of sediments in a reliable, easy to handle and modern method. This is of high interest to the hydro power industry as well as the government and local stakeholders. Having more detailed information about the sediments being transported in a river, the hydro power plant can be planned, built, and operated much more efficiently.

Abstract
The present project proposes to develop a new method to measure suspended sediment concentrations and their grain size distribution with a dual frequency acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP). This is of high importance since sediments have a strongly negative impact on any hydropower plant. With the new measurement method it will be possible to extensively assess incoming amount of sediments in a reliable, easy to handle and modern method. This is of high interest to the hydro power industry as well as the government and local stakeholders. Having more detailed information about the sediments being transported in a river, the hydro power plant can be planned, built, and operated much more efficiently.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
