The paper offers a novel interpretation of the notion of a primitive language game, as it occurs both in the opening sections of Wittgenstein's Philosophicall Investigations and in his later writings. A connection is made between concepts mastery and language games. Wittgenstsin's work is placed and discussed in the context of recent discussion in the philosophy of language and compared to W.V.
