Starting from the view that it is convenient to look to Artificial Agents (AA) as institutionally defined entities, and to AA communities as institutionally organised social collectivities, this paper develops a conceptual apparatus for reasoning with and about the sort of beliefs that AA’s have to entertain in order to guarantee appropriate mutual acknowledgment of their institutional attributes.
