The Garigliano plain (between Lazio and Campania) has been characterized until recently by an alternation of swamps or wet zones and well drained areas due to the presence of old beach ridges. The settlement system and the economy of the region were influenced by these natural conditions. This research aims to reconstruct the evolution of the coastal landscape and study the relationship between the presence of humans, the organization of the territory, historical events and climatic changes through geoarchaeological methodologies. It is a multidisciplinary approach that combines the typical analysis from archaeology, topography, geomorphology and paleobotany.

Abstract
The Garigliano plain (between Lazio and Campania) has been characterized until recently by an alternation of swamps or wet zones and well drained areas due to the presence of old beach ridges. The settlement system and the economy of the region were influenced by these natural conditions. This research aims to reconstruct the evolution of the coastal landscape and study the relationship between the presence of humans, the organization of the territory, historical events and climatic changes through geoarchaeological methodologies. It is a multidisciplinary approach that combines the typical analysis from archaeology, topography, geomorphology and paleobotany.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
