Precarietà e fordismo. Le lavoratrici dell'industria bolognese tra anni Cinquanta e Sessanta

The article investigates various forms of precarious work in the industrial sector of the Bologna area during the 1950s and 1960s, with a specific focus on women’s employment. Among the main sources analysed there are the «Proceedings of the Parliamentary Commission on Workers’ Conditions in Italy» and the reports published by the trade union and political press. The main factors of instability illustrated include: fixed-term contracts, home work, piece-work and unfair dismissals which jeopardised the right to marriage and maternity. The article shows that the struggle against occupational instability became a demand upheld by the workers organizations in the years of the socalled «economic boom»
