The Iranian-Italian Joint Archaeological Mission carries out archaeological activities in the surroundings of Persepolis in the frame of an agreement between the Department of Cultural Heritage of the University of Bologna and the Research Institute of the Iranian Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization. The activities has the character of a multidisciplinary collaboration with many institutions in Iran, Italy and Europe, and represents a fundamental step for the knowledge of the UNESCO World Heritage site.
