Epitaxial Ce1-xPrxO2-δ (x=0-1) thin films on Si (111) grown by MBE by coevaporation of the two rare earth oxides exhibit intriguing physical properties. The objective of this proposal is to determine the local coordination of the cations (site symmetry and oxidation state, bond length behaviour and ordering) in order to gain insight in the origin of the novel physical properties (e.g. ferromagnetism). The method chosen is K – edge fluorescence detected XAFS.

Abstract
Epitaxial Ce1-xPrxO2-δ (x=0-1) thin films on Si (111) grown by MBE by coevaporation of the two rare earth oxides exhibit intriguing physical properties. The objective of this proposal is to determine the local coordination of the cations (site symmetry and oxidation state, bond length behaviour and ordering) in order to gain insight in the origin of the novel physical properties (e.g. ferromagnetism). The method chosen is K – edge fluorescence detected XAFS.File in questo prodotto:
