Tellurium has found increasing industrial use over the past decades. Tellurium enters Rhodobacter capsulatus cells and accumulates in the cytoplasm upon reduction to elemental tellurium. This work reports on the inhibitory effect of 1 microM acetate during tellurite uptake. The possible role of an as yet uncharacterized monocaboxylate carrier in catalyzing tellurite uptake by cells of Rhodobacter capsulatus is discussed.

Abstract
Tellurium has found increasing industrial use over the past decades. Tellurium enters Rhodobacter capsulatus cells and accumulates in the cytoplasm upon reduction to elemental tellurium. This work reports on the inhibitory effect of 1 microM acetate during tellurite uptake. The possible role of an as yet uncharacterized monocaboxylate carrier in catalyzing tellurite uptake by cells of Rhodobacter capsulatus is discussed.File in questo prodotto:
