The overall objective of the proposed project is to support national efforts to promote sustainable use of coastal resources in Algeria by developing an Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) plan for the Wilaya d’Alger (Prefecture of Algiers). Special focus will be placed on the issue of protection and management of coastal wetlands, including the Ramsar site of Lac de Réghaïa. The project proposes to work in a close collaboration with the Agence Urbaine chargée de la Protection et de la Promotion du littoral et des zones touristiques de la Wilaya d’Alger – A.P.P.L. (Urban Agency for the Protection and Promotion of Coastal and Tourist Areas) and other relevant administrative bodies of the region, in order to improve understanding of the ICZM approach and increase awareness about its benefits. http://www.smap3-amis.org/
