This project looks into criminal forms of exploitation of the work of migrants, where the term migrants refers to any person who has moved to a country from abroad, one underlying assumption being that the foreignness and alienation linked to the status of a migrant can come with a vulnerability to labour exploitation. More precisely, the project looks into 1) Access to justice for migrants who have become victims of labour exploitation, including the punishment of offenders and all claims of victims under civil and labour law; in this respect the objective is to identify factors which support or hinder victims of labour exploitation in accessing justice; 2) Risk factors contributing to labour exploitation of migrants, and preventative measures as means of reducing risk; 3) The type and frequency of incidents of labour exploitation and the institutional setting in place to tackle it.
