Pastoral Care in the Diocese of Worcester, c. 900-c.1100

The project, financed by the British Academy (the UK National Academy for the Humanities and the Social Sciences), was carried out over a period of circa 6 months in 2005. A large part of the grant was used to visit many ancient churches in the area of the diocese of Worcester (West Midlands) and to go and see many manuscripts which originated at Worcester cathedral in the early medieval period but are preserved in the British Library, the Oxford Bodleian Library and Worcester Cathedral itself. This has allowed Dr Tinti to enlarge the original geographical area of her PhD thesis (which focused on the county of Worcestershire) so as to include the whole of the diocese. Thanks to the results obtained through this research project Dr Tinti is now completing a book on the history of the church of Worcester in the tenth and eleventh centuries.
