Humanities Computer Science (HCS) well represents, even in the formal statute of the subject, a paradigm of complexity . Firstly, because of the interdisciplinary aspect, that identify HCS as a meeting point between the “two cultures”. HCS presents itself as a complex system because it focuses on the interconnections between disciplines (humanities and sciences), rather than only on the single components constituting the cognitive universe of each field. The value added by the interaction is a kind of independent knowledge, endowed with an identity that is comprehensible only as the result of a new context sharing. This apparently paradoxical union reveal the emergence of collective qualities in the parties involved in this process that we could define as “humanising technologies”, or “computerising humanities”.
