We have recently reported some new mono and dinuclear Ru(II) polypyridyl complexes containing various 5-substituted tetrazolate ligands which were shown to act as efficient ElectroChemiLuminescence (ECL) luminophores [1]. In light of these interesting results, we now report a series of new polypyridyl Ru(II) complexes in which thienyl-tetrazole derivatives as well chelating tetrazolates are introduced in the coordination sphere of the metal centres. A complete survey of the main coordinative, electrochemical and structural features of these complexes will be presented. 1.
