City museums promote the process of people’s identification with the urban settlement where they live. The historic and artistic heritage hits the mark through the reconstruction of city development and through art works. The recovery of a collective memory is also possible by the salvage of meaningful features in the territory, the traits of which may be found in local museums. The recent reorganization of many museums and cultural institutions in Bologna constituting a homogeneous itinerary called Genus Bononiae, has a deep impact on people and tourists not only through art and history, but also through the memory of work and every-day life.

Abstract
City museums promote the process of people’s identification with the urban settlement where they live. The historic and artistic heritage hits the mark through the reconstruction of city development and through art works. The recovery of a collective memory is also possible by the salvage of meaningful features in the territory, the traits of which may be found in local museums. The recent reorganization of many museums and cultural institutions in Bologna constituting a homogeneous itinerary called Genus Bononiae, has a deep impact on people and tourists not only through art and history, but also through the memory of work and every-day life.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
