In this paper I discussed the development of the metaphor after Aristotle and considered as text in particular the Rhetorica ad Herennium and as place of the development the island of Rhodes. I took into account also some different tropes as the catachresis and the metonymy and the doctrine of the mistakes as barbarismus and soloecismus. The Hamburg Papyrus 128 too has been studied and the ascription to Theophrastus has been defended. To prove the peripatetic origin of this doctrine I considered the attitude of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophy towards this doctrine and proved that only the peripatetic philosophy was consistent with it. Therefore the considered Papyrus must be ascribed to 'Peri lexeos' by Theophrastus, as proposed by Bruno Snell.

Abstract
Therefore the considered Papyrus must be ascribed to 'Peri lexeos' by Theophrastus, as proposed by Bruno Snell.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
