In commemoration of Ludwig Boltzmann's death on September 5, 1906 during his summer vacation in Duino, near Trieste, the conference wishes to provide an up-to-date overview of the recent results and open problems related to the study of the Boltzmann equation and of the connections between the macroscopic and mesoscopic description of gas dynamics. The theory of the Boltzmann equation represents one of the most fascinating areas of research in partial differential equations, a sort of meeting point between kinetic theory, statistical mechanics and information theory, that in the recent years has received new fundamental contributions by the introduction of ideas and techniques typical of the field of nonlinear hyperbolic equations. The conference is organized in two courses and a series of invited lectures. These courses are addressed to Ph.D. students as well as to Post Doctoral and active researchers who have experience or are interested in these areas of PDEs.

Abstract
These courses are addressed to Ph.D. students as well as to Post Doctoral and active researchers who have experience or are interested in these areas of PDEs.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
