DOCOMOMO is an acronym for Documentation and Conservation of buildings, sites and neighborhoods of the Modern Movement. The organization aims to: 1. Bring the significance of the architecture of the Modern Movement to the attention of the public, the authorities, the professionals and the educational community. 2. Identify and promote the surveying of the works of the Modern Movement which will include a general register, drawings, photographs and manuscript archives. 3. Foster and disseminate the development of appropriate techniques and methods of conservation. 4. Oppose destruction and disfigurement of significant works. 5. Identify and attract funding for documentation and conservation. 6. Explore and develop knowledge of the Modern Movement. In accordance with its obligations Docomomo International publishes two issues of its biannual periodical (March and September) that are mailed worldwide to 45 countries/regions and working parties. The Docomomo Journal, comprised of about 100 pages, currently represents the only international periodical which regularly summarizes recent reseach concerning the sites and the buildings of the modern movement. Each issue offers articles, short contributions and research papers, sounds the alarm for endangered buildings and informs readers about conferences, exhibitions and research programs on the rehabilitation and conservation of twentieth-century heritage. A complete and up-dated directory of all our collaborators who work worldwide among universities, architecture schools, museums,and public offices for a better awareness and preservation of the heritage of the modern movement is also published in the last section of each journal. The publication of Do.Co.Mo.Mo. Journal is entirely funded by the Direction de l’architecture et du patrimoine of the French Ministry of Culture.
