The aim of this work was to evaluate the characteristics of materials obtained processing by Hot Air Coating (HAC) binary mixtures constituted of caffeine and a lipid excipient, cetearyl alcohol (CA), stearic acid (SA), palmitic acid (PA), or stearic-palmitic acid (SPA). Drug entrapment, yield of production, angle of spatula, morphology and size of microparticles were evaluated. The results of this preliminary study suggested that the lipid excipients can be used to prepare microparticles of caffeine by HAC. Cetearyl alcohol and stearic-palmitic acid seem to be promising coating agents for this drug.

Abstract
The aim of this work was to evaluate the characteristics of materials obtained processing by Hot Air Coating (HAC) binary mixtures constituted of caffeine and a lipid excipient, cetearyl alcohol (CA), stearic acid (SA), palmitic acid (PA), or stearic-palmitic acid (SPA). Drug entrapment, yield of production, angle of spatula, morphology and size of microparticles were evaluated. The results of this preliminary study suggested that the lipid excipients can be used to prepare microparticles of caffeine by HAC. Cetearyl alcohol and stearic-palmitic acid seem to be promising coating agents for this drug.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
