Adamantius is a yearly journal edited by the Italian Research Group on “Origen and the Alexandrian Tradition”. It is the first review specialized in the study of Origen (ca. 185-254), the greatest interpreter of the Bible among the Fathers of ancient Christianity, and of his larger cultural background of the Alexandrian tradition including the three main components of Hellenism, Judaism and Christianity. The journal aims to increase the scientific knowledge of Origen and the Alexandrian tradition through articles, a systematic bibliographic information, reviews of books and articles, reports on conferences and research projects. It addresses scholars working in the field of patrology, religious history, history of ideas. Thanks especially to its annual bibliography Adamantius provides nowadays one of the most precious tool for patristic studies. With the help of an international scientific committee and a large group of foreign correspondents Adamantius is engaged in becoming more and more an important organ of information and exchange in the patristic scholarship. This goal is supported by the initiatives of the Italian Research Group on “Origen and the Alexandrian Tradition”, which was created in the year 1994. Adamantius, the “adamantine”, is the ancient name for Origen in order to express the exceptional strength of his exegetical enterprise on the Bible, which was subsequently to become one of the most influential and controversial heritages for the whole history of Christian thought.

Abstract

Adamantius is a yearly journal edited by the Italian Research Group on “Origen and the Alexandrian Tradition”.
