The Women Lecturers’ Association of the University of Bologna was founded in 1992 and one of its aims was to monitor the numbers of women at the university. Ten years later, the figures were comforting although not wholly satisfactory. While women now accounted for 50% of those doing research as a career, they were still experiencing far greater difficulty than men in rising to the highest positions. Indeed, their numbers at the very top of their profession were and are far lower that what constitutes parity.

Abstract
The Women Lecturers’ Association of the University of Bologna was founded in 1992 and one of its aims was to monitor the numbers of women at the university. Ten years later, the figures were comforting although not wholly satisfactory. While women now accounted for 50% of those doing research as a career, they were still experiencing far greater difficulty than men in rising to the highest positions. Indeed, their numbers at the very top of their profession were and are far lower that what constitutes parity.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
