Plankton species often show a characteristic composition in terms of lipid compounds such as sterols, hydrocarbons and fatty acids, which represent therefore useful markers that allow individuating species or taxa in marine trophic chain. We determined these compounds in plankton samples of two sites of the northern Adriatic Sea, with the aim to correlate some of these biogenic markers with microalgae distribution.

Abstract
Plankton species often show a characteristic composition in terms of lipid compounds such as sterols, hydrocarbons and fatty acids, which represent therefore useful markers that allow individuating species or taxa in marine trophic chain. We determined these compounds in plankton samples of two sites of the northern Adriatic Sea, with the aim to correlate some of these biogenic markers with microalgae distribution.File in questo prodotto:
