Medicina & Storia is an international, peer-reviewed journal, published twice a year. Unfettered by chronological parameters and spanning history from antiquity to the present is published in Italian, English and French. It is available both in print and on line. Submitted articles, which must not have been previously published, are double blind reviewed by at least two referees, who are external in the case of essays. Taking a rigorous approach to the study of the interactions among history, medicine, and health, and setting aside celebratory and elegiac motivations, it envisions historical research as a laboratory for reflection upon the present, focusing its investigations within the contexts of health and the body, medical specializations, and cures. For this reason, it encourages constructive engagements with other disciplines and research methodologies that share an interest in health and disease, from philosophy to anthropology, and from bio-ethics to social studies, in the belief that the scholarly study of the past enables us to understand better the world in which we live and to make well-informed choices and decisions.
