Phytopathologous Manager: Professional Multidisciplinary Expertise for Landscape Plants

Diseases can affect the survival or aesthetic value of landscape plants. These plants are generally costly, therefore Phytopathologous Manager needs to be conscious that preventive maintenance to control diseases or plant health care is less expensive that buying replacement plants. Phytopathologous Manager has to pay attention to several important concepts regarding plant diseases: susceptibility, resistance, latence, etc. This professional expertise involves a deep integration between his own competences and other disciplines as design, planning, management, economic and social issues. This paper discusses the importance of creating specific curricula within higher education programmes, also based on the experiences of the degree courses in the fields of green areas and landscape of the Department of Agricultural Sciences of the University of Bologna (Italy).
